Dystropicania meets highly satisfying industrial machines

One hour audiovisual performance

The great films of the visual rhythms of people, technology and machines with their synchronization of the individual and society, production and everyday life, such as MODERN TIMES (1936) by Charlie Chaplin, BERLIN – THE SYMPHONY OF THE GREAT CITY (1927) by Walter Ruthmann, PLAYTIME (1967) by Jacques Tati – these are artistic film works that seem strange today in their pathos of great narratives and their image inventions. What would a contemporary equivalent look like and what would the sound be like?

For the project, compilations from YouTube such as „Highly satisfying industrial machines“ or presentation films of the mechanical engineering industry meet the sound of the band and the machines in the conception of the artist Boris Petrovsky. Uncanny resonances, interferences and synchronicity come together unrepeatably as audiovisual, temporary sculptures. A psychosensory game between sense and sensuality, between sign processes and the physical presence of an insistent presence of something absent.
